The average liquefied butanes import price stood at $656 per ton in September 2023, increasing by 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $733 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,271 per ton), while the price for Qatar ($599 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average liquefied butanes export price stood at $662 per ton in 2022, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 53%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $889 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($795 per ton), while the average price for exports to China stood at $595 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (-1.0%).

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of liquefied butaneses, when their volume increased by 16% to 1.5M tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable setback.

In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the last three-year period.
