Liquefied Butanes Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023

The average liquefied butanes export price stood at $493 per ton in August 2023, waning by -12.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 212% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,858 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($469 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey stood at $429 per ton.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average liquefied butanes import price amounted to $1,000 per ton, increasing by 20% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 43%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,100 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, liquefied butanes imports surged to $32M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
