In 2022, the average lentil import price amounted to $1,658 per ton, increasing by 84% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed buoyant growth. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,150 per ton), while the average price for exports to Aruba ($1,556 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Venezuela (+42.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Imports in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, overseas purchases of lentils decreased by -88.6% to 487 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 268% against the previous year.
