Lentil Price in Slovakia (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average lentil import price amounted to $1,187 per ton, with a decrease of -9.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 8% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,468 per ton. From October 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,178 per ton), while the price for Canada ($1,141 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022
The average lentil export price stood at $1,557 per ton in 2022, rising by 8.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 57% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,932 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Bulgaria ($1,616 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($1,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($1,452 per ton) and Romania ($1,541 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Imports in Slovakia
Lentil imports into Slovakia reached 3.3K tons in 2022, picking up by 6.5% against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.5K tons. Lentil Exports in Slovakia
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of lentils decreased by -28% to 1.4K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 115%.
In value terms, lentil exports reduced remarkably to $2.1M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 74% against the previous year.
