Lentil Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2022
The average lentil import price stood at $1,428 per ton in 2022, rising by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,507 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($2,241 per ton), while the price for Canada ($1,239 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+44.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022
The average lentil export price stood at $1,770 per ton in 2022, rising by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 80%. The export price peaked at $1,789 per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($1,811 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($1,751 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Lentil Imports in Lithuania
For the fourth consecutive year, Lithuania recorded growth in overseas purchases of lentils, which increased by 3.9% to 602 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 6.7%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, lentil imports skyrocketed to $860K in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 44%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Lentil Exports in Lithuania
For the third year in a row, Lithuania recorded decline in overseas shipments of lentils, which decreased by -24.8% to 36 tons in 2022. Overall, exports showed a precipitous setback.
In value terms, lentil exports dropped to $63K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 1.3%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $230K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
