In 2022, the average lentil import price amounted to $1,004 per ton, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The import price peaked at $1,882 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($12,006 per ton), while the price for Canada ($462 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+20.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2021, the average lentil export price amounted to $243 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 a decrease of -35.5%. The export price peaked at $586 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Lentil Imports in Angola
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of lentils, when their volume decreased by -34.9% to 96 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year.
In value terms, lentil imports fell markedly to $97K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase.
