Lard Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023

The average lard import price stood at $1,587 per ton in September 2023, surging by 2.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 6.3% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,033 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($5,766 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,272 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Lard Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2022

The average lard export price stood at $1,517 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9.7% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lard export price decreased by -5.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 103% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,097 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($3,309 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($774 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Lard Imports in the Czech Republic

For the third year in a row, the Czech Republic recorded decline in overseas purchases of lard, which decreased by -3.1% to 4.2K tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a perceptible setback. The smallest decline of -1.6% was in 2020.

In value terms, lard imports surged to $7.7M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Lard Exports in the Czech Republic

In 2022, the amount of lard exported from the Czech Republic totaled 1K tons, remaining relatively unchanged against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 8.4%.

In value terms, lard exports reached $1.6M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
