Hydrogen Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
The average hydrogen export price stood at $0.5 per cubic meter in 2022, which is down by -3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $0.8 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($0.6 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($0.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average hydrogen import price amounted to $0.4 per cubic meter, reducing by -20.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 71% against the previous year. In 2022, the amount of hydrogen exported from Kenya amounted to 31K cubic meters, increasing by 2% against the previous year's figure.
