In 2022, the average hot-rolled free-cutting steel import price amounted to $842 per ton, shrinking by -20.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,208 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,627 per ton), while the price for Russia stood at $794 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-2.7%).

In 2022, the average hot-rolled free-cutting steel export price amounted to $829 per ton, surging by 4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $936 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
