Handmade Paper Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average handmade paper export price amounted to $18,000 per ton, increasing by 18% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated mild growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, handmade paper export price increased by +28.3% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 35% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $20,274 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($35,072 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($11,387 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Handmade Paper Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average handmade paper import price amounted to $1,788 per ton, which is down by -14.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 68%. The import price peaked at $3,716 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,155 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $1,233 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+59.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Handmade Paper Exports in Thailand
In 2022, exports of handmade paper and paperboard from Thailand reached 326 tons, surging by 2.3% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, showed a sharp shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17%.
In value terms, handmade paper exports totaled $4.5M in 2022. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 22%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
