The average hand saws import price stood at $28,593 per ton in June 2023, flattening at the previous month. Over the last nine-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $28,598 per ton in May 2023, and then contracted slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($28,530 per ton), while the price for Japan ($17,677 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average hand saws export price stood at $30,491 per ton in June 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a pronounced increase from September 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.3% over the last nine-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, hand saws export price decreased by -3.0% against March 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 41% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $31,430 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United States ($28,453 per ton) and Japan ($26,257 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($26,257 per ton) and South Korea ($26,257 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
