Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021

The average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative import price stood at $2,153 per ton in December 2021, surging by 21% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated moderate growth from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative import price increased by +87.6% against July 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 an increase of 52% against the previous month. The import price peaked in December 2021.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($3,287 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($889 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022

The average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative export price stood at $2,394 per ton in 2022, reducing by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 123%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,821 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($9,307 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($323 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Imports in Malaysia

Halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports into Malaysia was estimated at 79K tons in 2022, approximately equating the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 4.5%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports reduced to $100M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $113M, and then reduced in the following year.

Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Exports in Malaysia

In 2022, approx. 1.7K tons of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons were exported from Malaysia; which is down by -10.4% against 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.9K tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports shrank to $4M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 38%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $4.6M, and then declined in the following year.
