Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023

The average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative export price stood at $853 per ton in July 2023, declining by -3.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 22% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,215 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($975 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($593 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative import price amounted to $3,225 per ton, falling by -22.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 168% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,178 per ton, and then reduced remarkably in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,002 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,025 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Halogenated Hydrocarbon Derivative Exports in Belgium

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons decreased by -22.8% to 745K tons in 2022. In general, exports saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 5.2% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 965K tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports declined to $610M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 11%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $703M, and then contracted in the following year.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year.
