In 2022, the average gum arabic import price amounted to $4,987 per ton, waning by -2.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,334 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,038 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,113 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average gum arabic export price amounted to $3,807 per ton, reducing by -14.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,462 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,244 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ecuador ($2,493 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of gum arabics imported into Peru fell significantly to 83 tons, dropping by -18.8% against the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +26.4% against 2020 indices. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +34.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $519K, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 185%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $26K, and then declined sharply in the following year.
