In 2022, the average gum arabic import price amounted to $4,987 per ton, waning by -2.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,334 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,038 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,113 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average gum arabic export price amounted to $3,807 per ton, reducing by -14.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,462 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,244 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ecuador ($2,493 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $519K, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

Overall, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 148%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 5.9 tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, gum arabic exports declined notably to $18K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase.
