The average gum arabic import price stood at $3,460 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,670 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($7,767 per ton), while the price for China ($2,356 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sudan (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average gum arabic export price amounted to $2,832 per ton, falling by -9.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 18%. The export price peaked at $5,585 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($15,571 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($2,502 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Gum Arabic Imports in Indonesia
