Groundnuts Price in Ghana (CIF) - 2022

The average groundnuts import price stood at $764 per ton in 2022, jumping by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 2,249%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $23,697 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Burkina Faso ($772 per ton), while the price for Niger stood at $754 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+96.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Groundnuts Price in Ghana (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average groundnuts export price amounted to $2,253 per ton, surging by 114% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 123% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($5,487 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($715 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Africa (+29.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Groundnuts Imports in Ghana

In 2022, supplies from abroad of ground-nut (in-shell) decreased by -80% to 6.3 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports faced a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 150%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 86 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, groundnuts imports contracted significantly to $4.8K in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a dramatic slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 140%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $58K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

For the third consecutive year, Ghana recorded decline in shipments abroad of ground-nut (in-shell), which decreased by -55.9% to 570 kg in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a dramatic shrinkage. The smallest decline of -9.1% was in 2020.

In value terms, groundnuts exports fell to $1.3K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a precipitous setback.
