Goats; Live Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022

In 2021, the average goats; live import price amounted to $378 per unit, dropping by -27.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw tangible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $743 per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($438 per unit), while the price for Sudan ($376 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sudan (+3.6%).

The average goats; live export price stood at $277 per unit in 2022, reducing by -4.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 74%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $290 per unit, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($647 per unit), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($43 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of goats; lives, when their volume decreased by 99.9% to less than 0.1 units. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 607 units, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, goats; live imports shrank markedly to $157K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a sharp shrinkage. The smallest decline of -12.5% was in 2020. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $342K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of goats; lives decreased by -1.7% to 2.8K units in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.8K units, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, goats; live exports reduced to $769K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 132%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $820K, and then contracted in the following year.
