Gin and Geneva Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average gin and geneva import price amounted to $3.6 per litre, picking up by 29% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a noticeable increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, gin and geneva import price decreased by -6.6% against May 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 61% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3.8 per litre in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Spain amounted to +4.7% per month.
Gin and Geneva Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average gin and geneva export price stood at $2.1 per litre in July 2023, waning by -35.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 194% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $7.2 per litre in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($8.4 per litre), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($1.7 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uruguay (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Gin and Geneva Imports in Brazil
Gin and geneva imports into Brazil reduced modestly to 9.6M litres in 2022, leveling off at the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 80%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 9.6M litres, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, gin and geneva imports surged to $24M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 84%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Gin and Geneva Exports in Brazil
In 2022, overseas shipments of gin and geneva decreased by -33.5% to 522K litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 197% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 786K litres, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, gin and geneva exports rose markedly to $1.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 110%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
