Fruit and Berry Price in the UK (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average fruit and berry import price amounted to $1,483 per ton, falling by -4.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 8.1%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,557 per ton, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($2,484 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fruit and Berry Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022

The average fruit and berry export price stood at $2,186 per ton in 2022, waning by -4.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 61%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,286 per ton, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($6,923 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($2,146 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fruit and Berry Imports in the UK

For the third consecutive year, the UK recorded decline in supplies from abroad of fruits and berries, which decreased by -1.7% to 3.3M tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a noticeable slump. The smallest decline of -1.7% was in 2020.

In value terms, fruit and berry imports contracted to $4.9B in 2022. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 2.7% against the previous year.

Fruit and Berry Exports in the UK

In 2022, shipments abroad of fruits and berries decreased by -6% to 38K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports faced a dramatic slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 5.6% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 172K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fruit and berry exports dropped to $83M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a dramatic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $244M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
