Fruit and Berry Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average fruit and berry export price amounted to $2,083 per ton, falling by -2.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,142 per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($3,018 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($1,429 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fruit and Berry Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022

The average fruit and berry import price stood at $3,469 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($52,448 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,321 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+44.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Fruit and Berry Exports in Australia

For the third year in a row, Australia recorded decline in overseas shipments of fruits and berries, which decreased by -8.6% to 395K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt downturn. The smallest decline of -8% was in 2021.

In value terms, fruit and berry exports reduced to $822M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt slump. The smallest decline of -2.1% was in 2020.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 124K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fruit and berry imports shrank dramatically to $267M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $382M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
