Fructose Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
The average fructose export price stood at $502 per ton in July 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 6.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in July 2023.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +1.1% per month.
Fructose Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average fructose import price amounted to $800 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $992 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,326 per ton), while the price for China ($660 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Fructose Exports in Thailand
In 2022, approx. 940K tons of fructose and fructose syrup were exported from Thailand; surging by 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 404%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, fructose exports soared to $412M in 2022. In general, exports saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 210% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Fructose Imports in Thailand
In 2022, supplies from abroad of fructose and fructose syrup decreased by -6.9% to 73K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 74% against the previous year.
In value terms, fructose imports expanded markedly to $66M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
