Fructose Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average fructose export price amounted to $714 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.2% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $778 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($481 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average fructose import price stood at $526 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 2.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 6.5% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $536 per ton. From November 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($680 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($356 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Exports in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of fructose and fructose syrup were finally on the rise to reach 660K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a noticeable descent.
In value terms, fructose exports skyrocketed to $519M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Fructose Imports in China
In 2022, approx. 1.1M tons of fructose and fructose syrup were imported into China; jumping by 58% against 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 658%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.1M tons; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
In value terms, fructose imports skyrocketed to $544M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 377% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
