Frozen Whole Fish Price in Portugal (CIF) - 2023
The average frozen whole fish import price stood at $4,106 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -3.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $4,268 per ton in May 2023, and then reduced slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($6,817 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($1,497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Whole Fish Price in Portugal (FOB) - 2023
The average frozen whole fish export price stood at $3,408 per ton in June 2023, with a decrease of -13.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,732 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($8,078 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,778 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Frozen Whole Fish Imports in Portugal
In 2022, supplies from abroad of frozen whole fish increased by 1.5% to 133K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage.
In value terms, frozen whole fish imports expanded notably to $470M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment.
