Frozen Whole Fish Price in Panama (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average frozen whole fish export price amounted to $2,291 per ton, increasing by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,121 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($3,050 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($984 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+19.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average frozen whole fish import price amounted to $3,806 per ton, which is down by -18% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 251% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,398 per ton. From September 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($6,924 per ton), while the price for Mexico totaled $893 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (-1.3%).

In 2022, approx. 3.5K tons of frozen whole fish were exported from Panama; with a decrease of -33.3% against 2021. In general, exports recorded a sharp descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 0.6% against the previous year.
