Frozen Sweet Corn Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average frozen sweet corn export price amounted to $1,359 per ton, growing by 4.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in September 2023.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to +1.1% per month.
Frozen Sweet Corn Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023
The average frozen sweet corn import price stood at $1,198 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 15% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated modest growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, frozen sweet corn import price increased by +6.0% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 36% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,489 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Vietnam ($1,396 per ton) and Poland ($1,356 per ton), while the price for China ($1,093 per ton) and India ($1,173 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Sweet Corn Exports in Canada
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of frozen sweet corn, when their volume decreased by -6.7% to 18K tons. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 7%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 19K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, frozen sweet corn exports reduced modestly to $19M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $20M, and then shrank in the following year.
