Frozen Strawberries Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average frozen strawberries import price amounted to $1,855 per ton, surging by 7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 8.7% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,414 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($2,337 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,433 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Frozen Strawberries Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average frozen strawberries export price amounted to $2,371 per ton, increasing by 4.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 31% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,347 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -3.0% per month.

Frozen Strawberries Imports in Canada

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of frozen strawberrieses, when their volume decreased by -3.7% to 36K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 12%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 37K tons, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In value terms, frozen strawberries imports dropped modestly to $75M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 13%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $78M, and then shrank in the following year.
