Frozen Fish Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fish import price stood at $4,273 per ton in 2022, rising by 8.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 20% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,559 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($13,002 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($2,624 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average frozen fish export price amounted to $7,035 per ton, which is down by -1.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen fish export price increased by +64.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 67% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,145 per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($14,041 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($3,286 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Imports in Hungary
Frozen fish imports into Hungary stood at 8.4K tons in 2022, increasing by 3.2% against 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 15%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, frozen fish imports stood at $36M in 2022.
