Frozen Fish Price in Azerbaijan (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fish import price stood at $2,184 per ton in 2022, surging by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 71%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($6,047 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,400 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+28.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Price in Azerbaijan (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average frozen fish export price amounted to $1,709 per ton, declining by -4.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 41%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $8,180 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,650 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan totaled $750 per ton.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+14.4%).
Frozen Fish Imports in Azerbaijan
In 2022, frozen fish imports into Azerbaijan was estimated at 9.1K tons, picking up by 4.9% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decrease.
In value terms, frozen fish imports skyrocketed to $20M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. Frozen Fish Exports in Azerbaijan
In 2022, the amount of frozen fish exported from Azerbaijan expanded markedly to 705 tons, growing by 11% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 791 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen fish exports expanded remarkably to $1.2M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -13.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 84% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.4M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
