In 2022, the average frozen cuttlefishes import price amounted to $4,376 per ton, falling by -11.6% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen cuttlefishes import price decreased by -1.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 77%. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of frozen cuttlefishes increased by 22% to 48 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn.
In value terms, frozen cuttlefishes imports expanded sharply to $211K in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
