Frozen Crustaceans Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average frozen crustaceans import price stood at $9,048 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -7.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 8.6% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $11,140 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($17,834 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($6,380 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Honduras (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Frozen Crustaceans Price in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average frozen crustaceans export price stood at $10,759 per ton in August 2023, waning by -9% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 9.2% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $12,135 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($13,974 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($7,446 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Frozen Crustaceans Imports in the UK
In 2022, approx. 44K tons of frozen crustaceans were imported into the UK; reducing by -13.4% on 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 51K tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, frozen crustaceans imports declined to $476M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $517M, and then declined in the following year.
