Frozen Crustaceans Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen crustaceans import price stood at $6,936 per ton in 2022, picking up by 42% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,852 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United Arab Emirates amounted to -5.1% per year.
Frozen Crustaceans Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen crustaceans export price stood at $9,891 per ton in 2022, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 76%. The export price peaked at $13,233 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($18,996 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bahrain ($1,096 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Crustaceans Imports in Oman
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of frozen crustaceans, when their volume decreased by -39.7% to 2.3K tons. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 31%.
In value terms, frozen crustaceans imports declined to $16M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. After three years of growth, shipments abroad of frozen crustaceans decreased by -15.4% to 915 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 89%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.1K tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, frozen crustaceans exports declined modestly to $9M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth.
