In October 2023, the average flax yarn import price amounted to $17,879 per ton, declining by -14.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 an increase of 251% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $25,443 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($25,351 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($3,512 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average flax yarn export price amounted to $7,224 per ton, declining by -68.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 147%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $23,208 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($24,471 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia amounted to $5,122 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+19.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
