Flat Glass Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
The average flat glass export price stood at $7.3 per square meter in 2022, picking up by 29% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Poland ($0.8 per square meter) and Bulgaria ($0.7 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Austria ($0.6 per square meter) and Germany ($0.6 per square meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Flat Glass Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average flat glass import price amounted to $10 per square meter, rising by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, flat glass import price increased by +102.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 40%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1.4 per square meter), while the price for Israel ($0.6 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Flat Glass Exports in Italy
In 2022, overseas shipments of flat glass decreased by -3% to 23M square meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 23M square meters in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.
In value terms, flat glass exports soared to $165M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
