Ferro-Alloys Price in New Zealand (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average ferro-alloys import price amounted to $2,508 per ton, growing by 38% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ferro-alloys import price increased by +71.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($7,488 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,863 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ferro-Alloys Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average ferro-alloys export price amounted to $614 per ton, picking up by 9.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 2,019%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,910 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($792 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($281 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Caledonia (+39.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Ferro-Alloys Imports in New Zealand

In 2022, approx. 7.2K tons of ferro-alloys were imported into New Zealand; which is down by -38.2% against 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 12K tons, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, ferro-alloys imports dropped markedly to $18M in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 107% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $21M, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, ferro-alloys exports soared to $2.9M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous decrease.
