Ethylene Dichloride Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average ethylene dichloride export price stood at $465 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 4.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 59% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $654 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,590 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($342 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ethylene Dichloride Price in Germany (CIF) - 2022
The average ethylene dichloride import price stood at $513 per ton in 2022, picking up by 46% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $516 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,677 per ton), while the price for the UK ($275 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ethylene Dichloride Exports in Germany
In 2022, the amount of 1,2-dichloroethane (ethylene dichloride) exported from Germany fell remarkably to 479K tons, reducing by -31.6% on 2021 figures. In general, exports continue to indicate a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 49%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 700K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, ethylene dichloride exports declined to $282M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 137%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $311M, and then contracted in the following year.
