Ether Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ether export price amounted to $1,888 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,953 per ton. From October 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,621 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,189 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Ether Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average ether import price stood at $1,634 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -17.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 12% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,340 per ton. From October 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($2,513 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,240 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ether Exports in Germany
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of ethers, when their volume decreased by -22% to 536K tons. Over the period under review, exports saw a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 16%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 687K tons, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, ether exports fell to $1.2B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.4B, and then fell in the following year.

Ether Imports in Germany
In 2022, the amount of ethers imported into Germany was estimated at 318K tons, rising by 4.5% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years.
