Ether Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2023
The average ether import price stood at $2,439 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 32% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated tangible growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, ether import price increased by +48.1% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 80% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,454 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($8,903 per ton), while the price for China ($1,493 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ether Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
The average ether export price stood at $2,295 per ton in 2022, reducing by -18.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,724 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Syrian Arab Republic ($2,410 per ton), while the average price for exports to India totaled $1,099 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+34.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ether Imports in Egypt
In 2022, overseas purchases of ethers decreased by -53.8% to 23K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 97%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 49K tons, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, ether imports dropped rapidly to $41M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 133% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $69M, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

Ether Exports in Egypt
In 2022, approx. 21 tons of ethers were exported from Egypt; with a decrease of -49.3% on 2021 figures. In general, exports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 1,168%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 41 tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, ether exports shrank remarkably to $48K in 2022. Overall, exports showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 863%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $116K, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
