Ether Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average ether import price stood at $1,082 per ton in June 2023, with a decrease of -8.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,562 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,913 per ton), while the price for Iran ($810 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Ether Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average ether export price amounted to $1,300 per ton, reducing by -8.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 31% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,137 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1,653 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($944 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Ether Imports in China
In 2022, overseas purchases of ethers decreased by -35.1% to 911K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.8M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ether imports dropped rapidly to $1.1B in 2022. In general, imports saw a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.7B, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of ethers, when their volume increased by 396% to 1.4M tons. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
