Ether Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ether export price amounted to $1,345 per ton, shrinking by -1.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,950 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($2,008 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,084 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Ether Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ether import price amounted to $1,248 per ton, waning by -12.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 63% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,982 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($5,278 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($965 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ether Exports in Belgium
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of ethers decreased by -55.1% to 348K tons in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 774K tons, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
In value terms, ether exports contracted sharply to $527M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 69% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.1B, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Ether Imports in Belgium
In 2022, purchases abroad of ethers decreased by -45.6% to 356K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 123% against the previous year.
In value terms, ether imports dropped markedly to $519M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $866M, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
