Copper Wire Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average copper wire export price amounted to $9,367 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 5.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,087 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($10,555 per ton) and Slovakia ($10,248 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($8,578 per ton) and Bulgaria ($8,824 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Copper Wire Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average copper wire import price amounted to $9,072 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 3.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $9,524 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were China ($9,852 per ton) and France ($9,547 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($8,333 per ton) and Iran ($8,605 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Copper Wire Exports in Turkey

In 2022, exports of copper wires from Turkey shrank to 80K tons, waning by -2.1% compared with 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 82K tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, copper wire exports contracted to $777M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 72%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $814M, and then dropped in the following year.

Copper Wire Imports in Turkey

For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in supplies from abroad of copper wires, which increased by 3.4% to 86K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, copper wire imports reached $807M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 127%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
