Copper; Master Alloys Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average copper; master alloys import price amounted to $9,498 per ton, dropping by -8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 61% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $10,682 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Belgium ($9,644 per ton) and the Netherlands ($9,555 per ton), while the price for Spain ($8,138 per ton) and France ($8,328 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average copper; master alloys export price stood at $10,797 per ton in July 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $11,137 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($34,005 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($9,337 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Copper; Master Alloys Imports in Germany

In 2022, copper; master alloys imports into Germany shrank to 7.2K tons, waning by -9.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 7.9K tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, copper; master alloys imports dropped modestly to $71M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 63%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $73M, and then fell modestly in the following year.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of copper; master alloyses decreased by -21.8% to 1.4K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 74% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.8K tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, copper; master alloys exports dropped to $16M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 150%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $18M, and then reduced in the following year.
