Construction Sands Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022

The average construction sands export price stood at $151 per ton in 2022, surging by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, construction sands export price increased by +60.5% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 33% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($341 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iceland ($72 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Construction Sands Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average construction sands import price amounted to $146 per ton, jumping by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 150%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $453 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,101 per ton), while the price for Marshall Islands ($3.5 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+49.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Construction Sands Exports in Turkey

In 2022, approx. 35K tons of construction sands were exported from Turkey; with a decrease of -22.6% on the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 35%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 45K tons, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In value terms, construction sands exports declined to $5.2M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +67.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 80% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $5.7M, and then shrank in the following year.

Construction Sands Imports in Turkey

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of construction sands, when their volume decreased by -69.2% to 1.2K tons. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 266% against the previous year.

In value terms, construction sands imports declined significantly to $175K in 2022. Overall, imports showed a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 96%.
