Concrete Reinforcing Bar Price in Ghana (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average concrete reinforcing bar export price amounted to $526 per ton, dropping by -16.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 15%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $694 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($851 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($444 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cote d'Ivoire (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Concrete Reinforcing Bar Price in Ghana (CIF) - 2022

The average concrete reinforcing bar import price stood at $778 per ton in 2022, rising by 4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, concrete reinforcing bar import price increased by +45.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($1,259 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($420 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Concrete Reinforcing Bar Exports in Ghana

After two years of decline, shipments abroad of concrete reinforcing bars increased by 78% to 44K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction.

In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar exports skyrocketed to $23M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent.

Concrete Reinforcing Bar Imports in Ghana

In 2022, supplies from abroad of concrete reinforcing bars decreased by -63.7% to 16K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports faced a sharp downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 61K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar imports reduced dramatically to $12M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a precipitous decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 17% against the previous year.
