Commercial Printing Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average commercial printing import price amounted to $2,580 per ton, surging by 6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 90% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $11,308 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($23,648 per ton), while the price for China ($1,265 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Based on 2022 figures, commercial printing export price increased by +119.3% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,337 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($17,898 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($652 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Gambia (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of commercial printing (except screen and books) increased by 75% to 74K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep contraction.

In value terms, commercial printing imports soared to $191M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a sharp descent.
