In June 2023, the average commercial printing import price amounted to $8,707 per ton, growing by 19% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 24% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $9,070 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,587 per ton), while the price for Italy ($3,324 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average commercial printing export price amounted to $11,958 per ton, falling by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 32% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $12,424 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($37,300 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($4,637 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Austria recorded decline in supplies from abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books), which decreased by -5.4% to 124K tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt descent.

Commercial Printing Exports in Austria
In 2022, shipments abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books) was finally on the rise to reach 73K tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep reduction.
In value terms, commercial printing exports expanded modestly to $587M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 6.1%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
