Coin Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022

The average coin export price stood at $482,500 per ton in 2022, surging by 168% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,328,368 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($577,409 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($5,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+267.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average coin import price amounted to $31,427 per ton, surging by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 2,086% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($66,182 per ton), while the price for China ($25,977 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+25.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of coins exported from Vietnam declined dramatically to 30 kg, with a decrease of -74.6% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a precipitous curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 436%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 118 kg, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of coins, when their volume decreased by -46.9% to 459 kg. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 431% against the previous year.

In value terms, coin imports shrank sharply to $14K in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 398% against the previous year.
