Cocoa Powder Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average cocoa powder import price amounted to $3,559 per ton, reducing by -7.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,845 per ton in August 2023, and then declined in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,809 per ton), while the price for China ($1,366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Powder Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

The average cocoa powder export price stood at $3,167 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 27% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a temperate increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, cocoa powder export price decreased by -13.2% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 40% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,352 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($4,651 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($2,074 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Powder Imports in Lithuania

Cocoa powder imports into Lithuania expanded markedly to 1.4K tons in 2022, growing by 6.4% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, cocoa powder imports rose modestly to $4.1M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
