Cocoa Powder Price in Denmark (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average cocoa powder import price amounted to $4,938 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a modest expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, cocoa powder import price increased by +90.3% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 70% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,547 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,864 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($3,657 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Powder Price in Denmark (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average cocoa powder export price amounted to $4,568 per ton, waning by -20.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,736 per ton, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($5,839 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($3,140 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Cocoa Powder Imports in Denmark

In 2022, overseas purchases of cocoa powder (not sweetened) decreased by -16.3% to 1.8K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 5.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cocoa powder imports dropped dramatically to $7.3M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year.
