Cocoa Butter Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

The average cocoa butter import price stood at $5,700 per ton in September 2023, waning by -9.4% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a perceptible increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, cocoa butter import price decreased by -9.4% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 36% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $6,291 per ton in August 2023, and then reduced in the following month.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($6,015 per ton) and Spain ($5,293 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($4,579 per ton) and Cote d'Ivoire ($4,744 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Butter Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

The average cocoa butter export price stood at $6,471 per ton in September 2023, with a decrease of -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a temperate increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, cocoa butter export price increased by +24.8% against February 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,668 per ton in August 2023, and then dropped in the following month.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Belgium ($8,512 per ton) and Hungary ($7,151 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($6,121 per ton) and Poland ($6,157 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Butter Imports in Lithuania

In 2022, approx. 885 tons of cocoa butter were imported into Lithuania; rising by 4.2% against the year before. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 8%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cocoa butter imports shrank markedly to $4.2M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 206% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, cocoa butter exports surged to $4.1M in 2022. Overall, exports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 167%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
