Cocoa Butter Price in Ecuador (FOB) - 2022

In January 2022, the average cocoa butter export price amounted to $4,637 per ton, with a decrease of -3.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 an increase of 12% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,136 per ton. From September 2021 to January 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,402 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($4,324 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Cocoa Butter Price in Ecuador (CIF) - 2022

The average cocoa butter import price stood at $7,667 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $8,299 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($17,892 per ton), while the price for Brazil stood at $7,628 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+12.9%).

Cocoa Butter Exports in Ecuador

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in overseas shipments of cocoa butter, when their volume increased by 3.2% to 4.2K tons. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment.

In value terms, cocoa butter exports stood at $22M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn.

Cocoa Butter Imports in Ecuador

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of cocoa butter decreased by -12.2% to 22 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 414% against the previous year.

In value terms, cocoa butter imports reduced to $169K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 388%.
